The PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, Violet, Size 3-0, 27", with a 1" (26 mm) CT-2 Taper Point Needle, is a monofilament synthetic suture composed of polydioxanone. It is designed for extended wound support in soft tissue approximation, particularly in procedures where slow-healing tissues require long-lasting tensile strength.

The CT-2 needle is a 1/2 circle taper point needle optimized for soft tissue penetration without cutting fibers. Its geometry ensures minimal trauma, ideal for internal tissues such as gastrointestinal, urologic, pediatric, and gynecologic applications. The suture’s precision handling characteristics improve placement accuracy and reduce tissue drag.

PDS™ II maintains approximately 80% of its original tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks post-implantation. This gradual strength loss matches the healing curve of many soft tissues, offering reliable support through critical phases of recovery. The complete mass absorption occurs via hydrolysis in approximately 183 to 238 days.
